Narrative Photo Sequence
Project Reflection
The part of this project that went well for me was the planning and overall structure of the narrative. Completing the A4 assignment helped me clearly map out my day and understand how each image would contribute to the story. Because of this planning, most of the photos were captured as intended, and I was able to keep the sequence clear and easy to follow. Shooting in RAW also helped during editing, as it allowed me to adjust exposure and white balance while maintaining good image quality. I did have to make some changes during the execution stage. Due to bad weather, I was unable to travel to campus, which affected my ability to photograph Image 5 and Image 6 as originally planned. To adapt, I used a mobile phone photo for Image 5 so that the narrative could still continue. Image 6 was not provided, and I adjusted the sequence to work around its absence while still maintaining the overall story of a student’s day. One thing that did not go as planned was maintaining complete consistency across all images. The mobile photo did not match the technical quality of the RAW images, which made editing more challenging. I had to spend extra time trying to balance the look of that image so it would blend with the rest of the sequence. If I were to do this project again, I would plan backup shots and alternative locations in advance in case unexpected issues such as weather occur. I would also aim to complete the entire sequence using the same camera to keep the visual quality consistent throughout the project.
